Silver Creek Falls
While visiting near Stayton, Oregon we decided to take a trip nearby to Silverton, Oregon to Silver Creek Falls.
Silver Creek Falls is a place within Silver Creek State Park. We visited the South Falls day use area. There are camping areas that you can stay at where you can rent cabins or tent spaces. I stayed in one of the cabins years ago and it was fun. This time though we just wanted to play at the playground there and hike around the falls.
The water was really low this time of year because most of the snow has already melted off the mountains and it hasn’t rained in a while, so the waterfall doesn’t looks an impressive as it does other times of the year.
You can even walk under the waterfall. As a child I went here and I remember being splashed by the waterfall when walking under, but due to the lack of water now it wasn’t very splashy. They have also since built the awesome guard rail which wasn’t there before. There was one spot where you have to bend down to pass.
Silver Creek Falls park has many picnic tables and places to sit and enjoy the park. Even the bathrooms look like little cabins.
There was a movie theater playing an interesting short documentary about the falls every 5 minutes. And a nice cabin to stop to take a rest. They have coloring sheets and blocks for the kids to play with. There was also a tiny shop with ice cream and coffee.
It was an amazing time. If you are ever in the area, you should definitely check this place out.
