How to be more organized
I am always on the search of trying to become more organized. Being organized saves time and makes everything easier to complete. The main advantage of being organized though is that it reduces stress!
Habits that make you organized
Create and maintain a routine
A set routine can reduce a ton of stress. By doing the same thing daily you can put yourself on autopilot doing the tasks you need to do, you are less likely to forget to do them because they have become just part of your routine. Having a routine does not mean you have to do the exact same thing at the exact same time each day. Don’t tell yourself that because you missed making your bed at 9:00 am that you can not make your bed; if it comes next in your routine, just do it. A routine CAN be flexible it doesn’t have to be rigid and exact. Many people believe that having a routine means you are a rigid person with no flexibility, this is not true. A routine is merely an order of doing things and is done daily.
Set goals and prioritize
Setting goals are important, but prioritizing your tasks helps you to reach your goal. Goal planning is very motivating! Once you figured out what your goals are, lay out the steps you need to do to reach them. Then you can prioritize these tasks to decide what needs to come first. Prioritize the tasks that need to be done daily and you may find that many of the things on your to-do list are things that you don’t even need to worry about and can be taken off your list completely.
Write it down!
Write down EVERYTHING. Organized people know they are human; humans forget. Don’t take any chances and write it down before you forget. If you have a planner or journal this would be an ideal place to write everything down. Where ever you decide to write it down, keep everything together. A million different lists spread across the house is not doing yourself any favors. Keep all your lists together and keep them prioritized.
A planner, calendar, notebook, or even a large marker board is a great help to helping you plan ahead. I personally use a bullet journal. It is not as gorgeous as some of the beautiful bullet journals you see on Pinterest, but it works perfectly for me. I write down everything in it which helps keep everything together. All my appointments, things I need to do are all in my journal. Wherever you plan your tasks they need to be somewhere that you will look every day. Some people need big visuals on a wall in a room they are in often, some people can use journals, and some people keep a planner right on their phone. Find a way that works for you and stay on top of it. As soon as you have a new appointment or task, write it down immediately in your planner of choice.
I hope this helps you on your road to organization! Have a great day.
