Greece is known as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world mainly because of the historic sites, idyllic beaches, mountain ranges and over 60 inhabited islands. It has multiple options for you to explore and enjoy. Here are a few of the places on my must visit list in Greece!
Athens offers everything you need. If you want to see Greek culture, there is no better place to visit other than Athens. Places to check out while in Athens are the theatre of Dionysus, Ancient Agora of Athens, Plaka and Acropolis of Athens.
Besides having a vast history and culture, Patras is majorly known as a student’s city. For those who are in their twenties -Patras is a place for you. Many cafes, bars and clubs cater the students living here. Mostly tourists from all over the world come here for a part of the famous festival known as the Carnival of Patra, it is full of entertainment for the visitors. While traveling in Patras, make sure you visit the Archaeological Museum, Medieval Castle, Fortress of Patras and Dasilio.
I first heard of Crete in one of my archaeology classes and it sounded so fascinating. Crete is more like a small town than a Greek island. It is a place that filled with beauty that will help in relaxing your mind. It is majorly famous for its Minoan civilization, cultural heritage, beaches with crystal clear water, fertile valleys and various other natural landmarks. Crete soothes your eyes with its immense beauty. This place is on my Bucket List!
Chania is a great city where several civilizations grew centuries back, it is on the island of Crete. What makes Chania the most popular among tourists is the not-so-crowded crystal blue beaches, its intense nightlife, friendly people who are always ready to welcome you and the feeling of Florence and Venice that you get here. Besides all that, Chania is also a paradise for foodies as well.
Thessaloniki (aka Thessalonica or Salonica) is the second largest city of Greece which makes it equally important to be visited as well. It is a great place for people of all ages. You can find here good shopping options that include both, local and international markets and brands. Since the city is great place for people of all ages, the nightlife here is very happening – so if you are into nightlife, this is the city for you. Places here that I’d love to check out are the Royal Theatre, Archaeological Museum, War Museum of Thessaloniki and White Tower of Thessaloniki.
Rhodes is not only about sunshine and long beautiful beaches but there’s so much more to it. It has a rich history and an intense nightlife that attracts the tourists. Rhodes has a great variety of bars and clubs that offer plenty of entertainment if you are one who is big on night life this is the place for you! There is also amazing ruins for those who interested!
A tiny island north of Crete, filled with gorgeous views and buildings. My friend Alicia told me about this place and once I saw the photos, I was in love. This place is a must see.
