Happy International Beer Day!
Since it is “International Beer Day”. I wanted to write about the place that makes me think about beer the most. Bavaria! Bavaria is my favorite part of Germany. Within Bavaria is a city called Munich (München). Did you know that beer gardens (biergartens) originated in Munich? A biergarten, or beer garden, is an outdoor area where beer is served. Many beer gardens allow you to bring your own food and just buy beer and cold drinks.

Beer Garden Entertainment
In beer gardens, you will often find yourself entertained by German folk music. These musicians wear traditional German clothing.
If you want to visit a beer garden in Munich, here are the ones to check out:
The Hirschgarten is one of the largest in the world and can serve more than 8000 people!
The Gasthof Hinterbrühl can seat 1000 and it has two playgrounds if you are bringing kids along!
Augustiner Keller is one of the oldest beer gardens in Munich, has been around since 1812! The exterior of the building has remained the same for over 100 years and they have seating for 5000!
While you are in Bavaria have a delicious pretzel with your beer! You can find them made fresh everywhere!

Yum! Fresh Bavarian Pretzels!
If you are planning a trip to Munich between Sept 17 and Oct 3, Make sure you check out Oktoberfest! 2016 will be its 183rd year!
You can even find these great costumes on Amazon to wear:
