After writing my post about the United Kingdom. I wanted to try a traditional recipe from the UK. After searching traditional food from the UK. I decided a dessert would be best. So I chose to make Banoffee Pie, a traditional English pie. It was pretty simple to make and I found the recipe from the BBC food website.
I had not heard about Banoffee Pie before I made this and I don’t know for a fact, but if I had to guess I think it is named Banoffee pie because it is a pie made from a softer toffee (caramel) and bananas. It was delicious but extremely sweet.
I chose to make mine in a springform pan. It probably would have looked nicer in a regular shaped pie crust. It was pretty easy to make. The hardest part was waiting for it to cool in the refrigerator. Next time I make this I will go easy on the caramel sauce, it was a little sweeter than I prefer.
If you can’t get your hands on digestive biscuits, then a graham cracker crust should do the trick.
